Resolution Authorizing the Naming of the New Indoor Training Center at Stony Brook the “Dubin Damily Indoor Training Center”

WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn R. Dubin and Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin’s generosity and leadership for over a decade, notably their $4.3 million gift to fund the construction of Stony Brook’s state-of-the-art 7,600 square-foot strength and conditioning center, has elevated the national profile of Stony Brook University Athletics; and

WHEREAS, Stony Brook Athletics since identified a need for an Indoor Training Center to allow its student-athletes to train year-round as well as provide its coaches with the facilities necessary to recruit and retain student-athletes at the highest level of competition; and

WHEREAS, Once again, Mr. Glenn R. Dubin and Dr. Eva Anderson-Dubin have demonstrated their commitment to Stony Brook Athletics through a generous $5 million contribution to support the construction of the new on-campus Indoor Training Center; and

WHEREAS, Stony Brook University Athletics unveiled its new Indoor Training Center in January 2020, which has been utilized by thousands of Stony Brook student-athletes to elevate their training year-round, as well as hosted members of the local Long Island community for camps, clinics, and events since its opening;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE STONY BROOK LOCAL COUNCIL, THAT: In recognition of Mr. Glenn R. Dubin and Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin’s generous support of Stony Brook University Athletics and the construction of the new Indoor Training Center, the Stony Brook Local Council authorizes the naming of the new facility as the “Dubin Family Indoor Training Center” and, furthermore, The Stony Brook Local Council authorizes Chair, Kevin Law, to transmit this resolution to the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York.
